A cedilla ( sih-DIL-ə; from Spanish cedilla, "small ceda", i.e. small "z"), or cedille (from French cédille, pronounced [sedij]), is a hook or tail (¸) added under certain letters (as a diacritical mark) to indicate that their pronunciation is modified.
