The following is a list of all reported tropical cyclones within the South Pacific Ocean to the east of 160°E after the start of World War II in September 1939 and before the start of the 1950s decade. == Background == During the decade, meteorology in the Pacific rapidly developed after Britain, France and their dependent territories including Australia, Fiji, New Caledonia and New Zealand, declared war on Germany during September 1939.
