1961 Pacific typhoon season
The 1961 Pacific typhoon season was an extremely active season, having a total of 35 tropical storms, with 20 of them reaching typhoon strength and 8 further strengthening into super typhoons, as well as an accumulated cyclone energy index of 365.6. The season had no official bounds; it ran year-round in 1961, but most tropical cyclones tend to form in the northwestern Pacific Ocean between June and December.
