2012 National Reconnaissance Office space telescope donation to NASA

In 2012, the United States National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) donated two identical space telescopes to NASA. These telescopes were built under the Future Imagery Architecture program, originally intended to carry out surveillance missions. However, the project was terminated due to cost overruns and delays.
