Mark Carney's Davos speech

On 20 January 2026, Mark Carney, Prime Minister of Canada, delivered his speech "Principled and Pragmatic: Canada's Path" at the 56th World Economic Forum. It is widely considered to be a veiled denunciation of United States policy under the second Donald Trump administration, which has engaged in aggressive trade wars (including against Canada) and sparked a crisis involving several countries by pursuing territorial expansion.
