Acetylcholine receptor

An acetylcholine receptor (abbreviated AChR) or a cholinergic receptor is an integral membrane protein that responds to the binding of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter. Acetylcholine receptors play varying roles in the central nervous system (CNS), the peripheral nervous system (PNS), and neuromuscular junctions, though most receptors function in a parasympathetic role.
