Rene Alexander Acosta (born January 16, 1969) is an American lawyer and government official who served as the 27th United States secretary of labor from 2017 to 2019 during the first presidency of Donald Trump. A member of the Republican Party, Acosta had previously served as a member of the National Labor Relations Board, Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, and United States Attorney for the Southern District of Florida.
