Anti-greenhouse effect

The anti-greenhouse effect is a natural phenomenon that occurs when radiant energy from a star (sun) is absorbed or scattered by the upper atmosphere of an orbiting (typically planetary-mass) celestial object, preventing that solar energy from reaching the latter's surface and resulting in a negative net heat transfer (i.e. cooling) to the surface – the opposite of a greenhouse effect.
