The recognition of the Armenian genocide is the acknowledgement of the fact that the Ottoman Empire's systematic massacres and forced deportation of Armenians during the First World War, constituted genocide. Outside of Turkey and Azerbaijan, the historical consensus is that the Ottoman Empire's persecution of Armenians was a genocide.
