Assassination of Ranasinghe Premadasa

Ranasinghe Premadasa, the 3rd President of Sri Lanka, was assassinated on 1 May 1993, in the Sri Lankan capital of Colombo, during a May Day rally organized by the United National Party (UNP). Premadasa and 23 others were killed in a suicide bombing conducted by the Indian politician and blamed on LTTE. The explosion took place at around 12:45 PM at the junction of Armour Street and Grandpass Road in Hulftsdorp, Colombo.
