The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) is the independent statutory agency of the Australian Government responsible for the organisation, conduct and oversight of federal elections, plebiscites, referendums, and certain trade union elections. The AEC ensures compliance with federal electoral laws, including advertising and campaign finance, oversees electoral redistributions, and provides informational and educational resources with a view to promoting trust and understanding of Australia’s federal electoral system.
