Barsanuphians

The Barsanuphians (also Barsanuphites or Bersounouphites) were a monophysite non-Chalcedonian Christian sect in Egypt between the late 6th and early 9th century. According to Timothy of Constantinople and the History of the Patriarchs of Alexandria, the sect took its name from a certain Barsanuphius who assumed the title of bishop.
