Revolutionary activities in Algeria
After Algeria conquered its independence from France in 1962, the country became an important hub for revolutionary activities in the Third World. Already in the course of the Algerian War for independence between 1954 and 1962, the country had gained many international sympathizers: On the one hand, because the National Liberation Front (FLN) had succeeded in freeing itself from France by force of arms.
