Black maternal mortality in the United States

Black women in the United States have historically had higher maternal mortality rates than non-Black women. This disparity has been attributed to Black women having fewer healthcare resources, lower quality of care, and underlying chronic health conditions such as hypertension, obesity, and diabetes.
