Bread price-fixing in Canada

A bread price-fixing scandal emerged in Canada in 2015, when it was discovered that a group of competing bread producers, retailers and supermarket chains had colluded to artificially inflate the price of bread at the wholesale and retail levels from late 2001 to 2015 (some sources stated that the price fixing continued into 2017). The Competition Bureau of Canada alleged, in court documents released 31 January 2018, that seven Canadian bread companies committed indictable offences in what journalist Michael Enright later termed "the great Canadian bread price-fixing scandal" of 2018.
