Caatinga
Caatinga (; [kaaˈt͡ʃĩɡɐ]) is a type of semi-arid tropical vegetation, and an ecoregion characterized by this vegetation in interior northeastern Brazil. The name "Caatinga" comes from the Old Tupi word ka'atinga, meaning 'white forest' (ka'a = 'forest, vegetation'; tinga = 'white').
