Cannabis in the United States

Cannabis is subject to a complex legal regime in the United States, with conflicting federal and state policies governing medical, industrial, recreational, and other uses. As of April 2026, the use, sale, and possession of cannabis containing over 0.3% THC by dry weight is illegal under federal law except for medical use in some states.
