Chastity clubs in the United States

Chastity clubs in the United States emerged in the 1990s for adolescents (primarily girls) in elementary through high school. The rise of these clubs occurred alongside the rise of purity culture in the U.S. which promoted sexual chastity before marriage, including purity balls, sexual purity organizations, and government-funded abstinence-only sex education.
