Chronic traumatic encephalopathy in sports
Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease characterized by the accumulation of hyperphosphorylated tau (p-tau) in the brain. Most documented cases have occurred in athletes with mild repetitive head impacts (RHI) over an extended period.
