Cimetropium bromide is a semisynthetic quaternary ammonium compound derived from reacting scopolamine (an alkaloid isolated from belladonna) with cyclopropylmethyl bromide. It is used primarily as an antispasmodic agent for the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
