Cinema of the Dominican Republic
The cinema of the Dominican Republic comprises the production, distribution, exhibition, preservation and study of films associated with the Dominican Republic, as well as the country's development as a filming location for domestic and international audiovisual productions. The earliest documented public film screening in the Dominican Republic took place on 27 August 1900 at the Curiel Theatre in Puerto Plata, when the merchant Francesco Grecco presented a cinématographe developed by the Lumière brothers.
