Confiscation of Russian central bank funds

Within days of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 Western countries moved to freeze Russian Central Bank funds in these countries. This was followed by proposals to permanently confiscate these frozen assets to pay for the reconstruction of Ukraine.
