Congenital hyperinsulinism

Congenital hyperinsulinism (HI or CHI) is a condition causing severe hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) in newborns due to the overproduction of insulin. There are various causes of HI, some of which are known to be the result of a genetic mutation.
