Corps of Invalids (Great Britain)

The Corps of Invalids was an infantry unit of the English and British armies raised in 1688 to provide garrison troops for home defence duties. Its officers and other ranks were all veterans chosen by the commissioners of the Royal Hospital Chelsea to serve in lieu of a place at the hospital or receipt of a pension.
