Corruption in the United States has been a perennial political issue, peaking in the Jacksonian era and the Gilded Age before declining with the reforms of the Progressive Era. As of February 2026, the United States scores 64 on a scale from 0 ("highly corrupt") to 100 ("very clean") according to Transparency International's 2025 Corruption Perceptions Index.
