Counterpart theory

In philosophy, specifically in the area of metaphysics, counterpart theory (CT) is an alternative to standard (Kripkean) possible-worlds semantics for interpreting quantified modal logic. Counterpart theory still presupposes possible worlds, but differs in certain important respects from the Kripkean view.
