Cultural diversity in Puerto Rico
Non-Spanish cultural diversity in Puerto Rico and the basic foundation of Puerto Rican culture began with the mixture of the Spanish-Portuguese (catalans, galicianss, andalusians, sephardim, mozarabs, gypsies et al.), Taíno Arauak and African (Yoruba, Bedouins, Egyptians, Ethiopians, Moroccan Jews, et al.) cultures in the beginning of the 16th century. In the early 19th century, Puerto Rico's cultures became more diversified with the arrival of hundreds of families from Non-Spanish countries such as Corsica, France, Germany, Greece, Palestine, Türkiye, Pakistan, India, England, and Ireland.
