Cyprus–Turkey relations

Since the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974 following a coup, Cyprus has been de facto divided into a Greek Cypriot south (Republic of Cyprus) and a Turkish Cypriot north (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus). Turkey does not recognize the internationally recognized government of the Republic of Cyprus and does not maintain diplomatic relations with it.
