Deism
Deism ( DEE-iz-əm or DAY-iz-əm; derived from the Latin term deus, meaning "god") is the belief, based solely upon logic and observation while rejecting any supernatural speculation, that a Supreme Being or God created the universe. As a philosophical position and rationalistic theology that rejects prophecies, revelations, and religious texts as legitimate or reliable sources of divine knowledge, Deism instead asserts that empirical reason and observation of the natural world are exclusively logical, reliable, and sufficient to determine the existence of a creator God.
