Delaney Hall hunger strike and protests

On May 22, 2026, immigrants detained in Delaney Hall began a hunger and labor strike protesting conditions inside the facility. The facility is a private prison managed by GEO Group used for immigrant detention in Newark, New Jersey under a $1 billion contract with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
