Delaware in the American Civil War

During the American Civil War, the border state of Delaware remained in the Union even though it was a slave state. At the outbreak of the secession crisis, Delaware's political establishment rejected efforts to leave the Union and sided with the Federal government led by President Abraham Lincoln.
