Democratic Party of Japan

The Democratic Party of Japan (Japanese: 民主党, Hepburn: Minshutō) was a centrist to centre-left, liberal or social-liberal political party in Japan from 1998 to 2014. It was the main opposition to the Liberal Democratic Party from 1998 to 2009 and from 2012 to 2016, as well as the ruling party of Japan from 2009 to 2012.
