Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (United Kingdom)

The Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) was a department of the British Government responsible for the organisation, development, and encouragement of scientific and industrial research between 1916 and 1965. Between 1916 and 1959 DSIR was headed by the Lord President of the Privy Council.
