The Duchy of Rome (Latin: Ducatus Romanus; Greek: Δουκᾶτον Ῥώμης, romanized: Doukâton Rhṓmēs) was a state within the Byzantine Exarchate of Ravenna. Like other Byzantine states in Italy, it was ruled by an imperial functionary with the title of dux.
