Duck curve

The duck curve is a graph showing the electricity demand remaining after subtracting electricity supplied by variable renewable energy sources (primarily solar) over the course of a day. This highlights the timing imbalance between demand and solar power generation, which must be filled by dispatchable generation (usually non-renewable).
