Economy of the Mughal Empire
The Mughal economy, covering the Indian subcontinent from the early sixteenth to the mid-eighteenth century, was one of the largest in the early modern world. At its peak under Akbar and his successors, it generated an estimated 22–24 per cent of global gross domestic product and produced roughly a quarter of world manufacturing output.
