The economy of the Washington metropolitan area includes the economy of Washington, D.C., and its suburbs, including parts of Maryland, all of Northern Virginia, and Jefferson County, West Virginia. Washington, D.C. accounts for 25.2% of the metropolitan area's economy, while northern Virginia accounts for the largest share at 45.1%.
