Egyptian intervention in the Crimean War
The Egypt Eyalet began a military intervention in Crimea at the request of the Ottoman Sultan Abdulmejid I after the Russian armies crossed the Prut River in 1853, they occupied the states of Wallachia and Moldavia (currently Romania), and peaceful efforts failed to resolve the deteriorating situation. == Background == When the signs of the decline of the Ottoman Empire began to loom in the 18th century; Russia aspired to expand at the expense of the Ottomans, establishing a naval military presence on the northern coast of the Black Sea, then extending its influence and military control over the region of the straits, and enabling its ships to cross the Bosporus and Dardanelles in times of peace and war, without any conditions.
