Equality Statute between Brazil and Portugal

Equality Statute between Brazil and Portugal (or Estatuto da Igualdade entre Brasil e Portugal in Portuguese) is an agreement signed between Brazil and Portugal in Brasília on September 7, 1971, which guarantees the Portuguese in Brazil and the Brazilians in Portugal equal rights and duties with their respective nationals. Subsequently, the provision was repeated in the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Consultation between the Federative Republic of Brazil and the Portuguese Republic, signed in Porto Seguro on April 21, 2000, on the 500th anniversary of the Discovery of Brazil.
