Demographic history of the Vilnius region
The demographic history of the Vilnius region encompasses population changes, as well as migration and assimilation processes that have taken place in the region over the centuries. The Vilnius Region formed part of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania from the emergence of the Lithuanian state in the late Middle Ages until the Third Partition of Poland in 1795, when the Grand Duchy ceased to exist.
