First premiership of Mahathir Mohamad

Mahathir Mohamad was sworn in as Malaysia's fourth prime minister on 16 July 1981. This marked the beginning of his first premiership, which lasted until 2003 and remains the longest continuous tenure of any Malaysian prime minister.
