Gentlemen's Agreement of 1908
The Gentlemen's Agreement of 1908 (Hayashi-Lemieux Agreement) was an informal diplomatic agreement between Canada and Japan aimed at restricting Japanese immigration to Canada. This was part of broader efforts to address rising anti-Asian sentiment in Canada while maintaining good diplomatic relations between the two countries.
