Germany–United Kingdom relations

The bilateral relations between Germany and the United Kingdom span hundreds of years. The countries were allied for hundreds of years in the Late Middle Ages and, while they were on opposite sides in the two world wars in the 20th century, they have been aligned since the end of World War II. During Classical antiquity and the Migration Period, the progenitors of the populations of the United Kingdom and Germany consisted of the same Ingvaeonic and Elbe Germanic peoples.
