Glutamic acid

Glutamic acid (symbol Glu or E; known as glutamate in its anionic form), molecular formula C5H9NO4, is an α-amino acid that is used by almost all organisms for the biosynthesis of proteins. It is a non-essential nutrient for humans, meaning that the human body can synthesize it intrinsically and does not need to procure it through food.
