Golden Age of Philippine cinema
The Golden Age of Philippine cinema, in film criticism, is an era in the cinema of the Philippines that developed after the outbreak of World War II in the late 1940s, until the decline of the studio system in the early 1960s. It is a period of artistic breakthrough, international recognitions, establishment of the first award-giving bodies, high annual film production, and a floushing local film industry that made the Philippines the film capital of Asia.
