Gorkha regiments (India)

At the time of India's Independence in 1947, as per the terms of the Britain–India–Nepal Tripartite Agreement, six Gorkha regiments of the British Indian Army were transferred to the Indian Army, where they have served ever since. These troops are mainly recruited from the ethnic hill communities of Nepal.
