Hapi (Ancient Egyptian: ḥꜥpj) (also spelled Hapy) was the god of the annual flooding of the Nile in ancient Egyptian religion. The flood deposited rich silt on the river's banks, fertilizing the soil and enabling the Egyptians to grow crops.
