Hijra in Bangladesh
In Bangladesh, hijra (Bengali: হিজড়া, romanized: hijṛā, pronounced [ˈɦɪdʒɽa]) are individuals who are assigned male at birth but live with a gender identity that is neither fully male or female. According to a survey by the Ministry of Social Welfare (MOSW), there were 10,000 registered hijras in the country in 2013.
