History and use of the single transferable vote
Historically, the single transferable vote (STV) electoral system has seen a series of relatively modest periods of usage and disusage at various locations around the world. Today it is increasingly popular as a goal of electoral reform, and many jurisdictions are proposing implementation of it as a method of proportional representation.
