History of the Anglo-Egyptian Sudan

In January 1899, an agreement between the United Kingdom the Khedivate of Egypt restored Egyptian rule in Sudan but as part of a condominium, or joint authority, exercised by the two countries. The agreement designated territory south of the twenty-second parallel as the Anglo-Egyptian Sudan.
